Galatians 3:16
‘Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. He does not say, “And to seeds,” as referring to many, but rather to one, “And to your seed,” that is, Christ.’
God’s redemption plan seemed to formulate with Abraham. Out of humanity, it would begin with him. He planned to bless him and his seed. It would be passed down for hundreds of years until Jesus came. He is the seed referred to.
Jesus is the fountain head which allowed the blessing of Abraham to be showered to any who would believe. This part of the plan was a mystery. The jews knew God’s blessing was on them. However, after Jesus’ death, the Holy Spirit made it clear that it wasn’t to remain only on them. It would be given to any who wanted it.
It’s like a great story, God worked through actual people to redeem us. The bad character played their parts in crucifying Him. While God didn’t force them, He knew they would do it. On the cross, the earth shook, the sky was darkened. Dread came upon them. The obvious meaning came from the mouth of a guard, “Surely this was the Son of God.”
Redemptions was complete. Access to God was now possible. This was dramatically demonstrated by the veil of the temple was torn from top to bottom. The veil was the symbol that God and people were separated. Moses, the law and the sacrificial system made that clear. Jesus was the ultimate “Lamb that was slain.” The veil could have been torn by God’s own hand. Just as His finger inscribed the Ten Commandments, His hands may have torn the veil.
The sun now shines on any cold soul who wants God’s warmth. Jesus spoke about the wedding in which the invited guests didn’t attend. So, the invitation went out to all. That’s where we come in. “Whosoever will, let him come.”
