I Corinthians 9:16
“For if I preach the gospel, I have nothing to boast about, for I am under compulsion; for woe to me if I do not preach the gospel.”
Paul is under compulsion to preach the gospel. God saved him and he is forever grateful. It’s his joy. It’s like his hunger. He craves to share his faith and what God’s done for him. He dreams about it, thinks of ways to fit it in.
I worked on the service end of a company in my 20’s. I had a coworker in sales. If he sold x amount each year he would be rewarded with a lease for a high end car for that year. He dreamt about it. He had a picture of it on the wall of his cubicle. That is a simple comparison of Paul and the gospel.
Do we have that compulsion? Not nearly what Paul had. But I do want to share and seek opportunities to do so. Sometimes it falls flat. Bummer. But I don’t regret trying. Our testimonies are a great tool to share Christ.
Sharing Christ has caused some to separate from me. The one in mind recently said, “Let’s get together.” It ebbs and flows. Right now I feel His favor at work. I was out of it for two years. I feel the sun shining there. “Lord, may use this favor to share about You.”
We seek to hear our Savior’s words, “Well done thy good and faithful servant.” In the mean time we would love to have another opportunity to share the gospel. Lord, give us boldness to share.
