Ephesians 3:3
“that by revelation there was made known to me the mystery, as I wrote before in brief.”
God loves us all and we are all unique and prized by God. However, Paul had a particular mission whcih required much input by God. Paul was a great candidate. First off, he was a hero to Jerusalem’s religious leadership. He was brilliant, had high energy, spoke multilple languages, was a great writer, had roman citizenship, was key to protecting the traditional religious community, stirred opposition to the new upstart faith (christianity), etc. Even though Paul was zealous for his cause, God wanted him to be His man. Paul would become even more commited to the cause of Christ. His own personal earthquake would cause him to do a 180. While on his way to Damascus to arrest more Christians, Jesus appeared to him. It was very dramatic. He was knocked off his horse and blinded temporarily. He spent several days in darkness. He was contemplating his life and praying. God sent Ananius to pray for him and accept him in the faith. This was his first revelation. He was solidly converted and sought to tell his story where ever he went. It was said that he went to Arabia for a time. This where he received the revelation referred to in today’s passage. Paul had an incredible understanding of the gospel. The Letter to the Romans contains great theological insights to our standing in Christ. This was necessary for this new faith to have this knowledge. It was quite a shift from an Old Testament believer’s standing with God. Paul was tutored by the Holy Spirit personally. We benefit greatly by this. Nothing of this magnitude will happen to any of us. However, God loves us and wants to invest in us. This has been said so much, that it’s at risk of being trite. But He has the ability in His divine capacity to love each of us in an emormous way. The insecurities that each of us have would be more than repaired, if we were in touch with that love. As we accept Him and walk with Him in this world, He reveals this to us. As we are immersed in the bible and follow His leading, He reveals Himself and guides us uniquely. This needs to be celebrated. It’s not nearly as grand or impacting as Paul’s, but God wants to reveal much to us. Lord, help us to be sensitive to your ways. Thank You for Your presence being with us. Thank You for Your love and all You do for us.
