Concern for Others

Philippians 4:10
“But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at last you have revived your concern for me; indeed, you were concerned before, but you lacked an opportunity to act.”
We are to have concern for others. Sometimes it rises naturally other times our motivation comes with more work. That’s ok. It’s better than it never being there.
We are to have concern for others because God does and He wants us to be loving. He gives us a new heart which is able to love. Ezekiel 36:26 says, “Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.” We get that at our redemption.
It doesn’t stop there. Jesus says in John 15:4, “Remain in Me, and I in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit of itself but must remain in the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in Me.” As we remain in Christ, we bear fruit. That’s love. There it is. We love others.
It’s the same as stated earlier. Sometimes it flows naturally, other times we do it out of faith and obedience. We don’t feel it at times. We pray and act as if we do. It often flows from that. Sometimes not. We do the best we can. God blesses that greatly.
The praying and acting is a demonstration of faith. We believe and act as if we have it and He delivers it. Sometimes it shows up, sometimes not. He sees this effort and He blesses it. This blessing can be seen then or later. God have His accounting. Fortunately for us it’s not equal. We give a little, He blesses with a mountain. It’s His nature.
We wake up as everyone does, get ready and go out into our day. We have a job to do. As we do it we run into opportunities to bless and love. We often run in to obstructions. We do our best in a gracious way. We allow others to go first. That’s love. It can get played out in a myriad of ways. We love. We show concern for others.
Thank You, God, for Your love and the love You give us for others.
