Matthew 27:51
“And behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth shook and the rocks were split.”
God did the work that He thought up 4 thousand years earlier, to redeem man. Our fall was something none of us could fix. We were headed to pay for it on our own. We witnessed God institute a temporary system of sacrifice through the levitical priests. It was awkward and messy. We saw that without a blood sacrifice there would be no sacrifice for sins (Hebrews 9:22). The blood of animals was only temporary. It occurred to no one that it would be the blood of a person, let alone the Son of God.
The veil of the temple showed us there was a distance between God and man. They had learned that some priests died while serving beyond the veil. Once Jesus’ sacrifice was complete God’s first act was to remove the divide between God and man. He tore the veil in two from top to bottom. He did the removing. We could now approach God through the blood of Jesus.
While Jesus’ payment was the highest, it’s free to us. We can walk with God like Adam and Enoch. Through Jesus’ sacrifice He is in us. We are the temple of the Holy Spirit.
From what I’ve heard is the the veil was thick. What must the priests have thought? Who ripped it? It was done from top to bottom. It had to be God. They had been His executioner. One should fall to his knees and ask for forgiveness. I’m sure some did.
I have been forgiven for nearly 50 years. It’s been wonderful. He gives us His peace and joy. He provides His guidance. He has brought my wife and I together and blessed our marriage. We are both redeemed ones. Two redeemed people walking with Him.
Thank You, Jesus for Your sacrifice. Thank You God for tearing that veil in two. There is no obstruction. We can be one with Him.
