I Corinthians 12:24-26
“whereas our more presentable parts have no need of it. But God has so composed the body, giving more abundant honor to that part which lacked, so that there may be no division in the body, but that the parts may have the same care for one another. And if one part of the body suffers, all the parts suffer with it; if a part is honored, all the parts rejoice with it.”
I love this. It’s so God. He gives more honor to that which lacked. Jesus really brought this to light in Matthew 11:11, “Truly I tell you, among those born of women there has risen no one greater than John the Baptist. Yet even the least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.” The least is the greatest? That’s God.
We also see it when Jesus speaks of the widow’s mite. It’s in Luke 21:1-4, ‘Now He looked up and saw the wealthy putting their gifts into the temple treasury. And He saw a poor widow putting in two lepta coins. And He said, “Truly I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all of them; for they all contributed to the offering from their surplus; but she, from her poverty, putin all that she had to live on.”‘ Once again Jesus equalizes things.
All of us can rest in that God loves us all, the small and great. We needn’t not worry about status. We can rest in that God thinks we’re great. We should exercise the gift God has given us with confidence. Many will never know what we are doing. That’s ok, God knows. We live for an audience of One.
He wants to walk with us through our lives. He is so pleased with us. Keep in mind what David said in Psalm 139:17,18, “How precious also are Your thoughts for me, God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the sand. When I awake, I am still with You.” What favor. I feel His pleasure.
Here’s what Romans 8:35 & 37 says, “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or distress or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” What an amazing God. He not only loves us far beyond what we will know, but He protects us. We can confidently walk without fear. Sure we need to be careful for the evil one, but God is there protecting us.
Personally, I love my anonymity. He loves me, my family and friends love me. I am able to exercise my gifts in the contexts that He has me. I don’t need the attention. Thank You, Lord.
