God’s Approval

Job 1:8

‘The LORD said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, fearing God and turning away from evil.”’

What a wonderful commentary God gives about Job. It reminds me of Jesus’ words in Matthew 25:23, “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Enter into the joy of your master!’” This was from the Parable of the Talents. The master is praising the servant for being faithful with the tasks given.

God has given us all talents or gifts. How are we using them? He wants to use us to spread His kingdom. Our immediate responsibility is to our family. Are we loving and guiding them? After that we have our friends. Are we a good friend? We have church and our job. We need to be serving others in church. It’s best if we could use our talents there. Our employer pays us for forty hours of our week. Are we doing our best? Are we a blessing to our coworkers? When we enter Heaven we want God to say this of us, “Enter into My joy thou good and faithful servant.”

This parable was delivered the last week of Jesus’ life. He is wrapping up His mission. He is telling His disciples that He will die. Jesus said to Peter around this same time, ” But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith will not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers”, (Luke 22:32). We know that Peter denied Jesus three times. He fell. Jesus predicted this. That’s why Jesus said to Him, “when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers”.

We will fall as well. We will experience God picking us up and healing us. He will give us more chances. He will bless us and use us. I John 2:28 says, “And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming.” We are charged to continue in Him. If we do that He will greet us as we enter Heaven, “Well done thou good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of Your Master”.
