They See God’s Way as Foolish

I Corinthians 3:18

“Take care that no one deceives himself. If anyone among you thinks that he is wise in this age, he must become foolish, so that he may become wise.”

This is a theme in the New Testament. I Corinthians 1:21-25, “For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, God was pleased through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. For indeed Jews ask for signs and Greeks search for wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block, and to Gentiles foolishness, but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than mankind, and the weakness of God is stronger than mankind.”

Jews are stumbled by the cross and Greeks see it as foolishness. Most in today’s world think the same. To become a christian is a risk from those who don’t. They will think us fools. This is tough. However, to join God’s team we do so even if they think us fools. More than that I am proud to do so.

His message is true. The cross works. It will save those who go to Him. He restores the fellowship severed in the Garden. We are reunited with God. He’s adopted us and we are His children. He walks with us, He’s forgiven us through Christ, He gives us an amazing life. I gladly endure a little mockery for Him.

He asks us to share His message. Many will think it foolish. That’s ok. It will resonate with some. He puts some in difficult positions to make them open to the cross. They need help and hope. Some accept it. Others don’t. He tells us to brush the dust off our feet and move on. He still wants us to pray for them, but not to worry.

We rejoice in His wisdom. To us it’s amazing. We sing praise songs about it. The world doesn’t get it. I Peter 4:4 says, “In all this, they are surprised that you do not run with them in the same excesses of debauchery, and they slander you”. This wounds some. That’s ok. We gladly join with Him.

He’s given us faith to believe.Philippians 1:29 says, “For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for Him”. Everyone can accept Him. Thank You, Lord for the boost.

Thank You, Lord, that You’ve called us and given us the faith to believe.
