I Corinthians 2:14-16
“But a natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. But the one who is spiritual discerns all things, yet he himself is discerned by no one. For WHO HAS KNOWN THE MIND OF THE LORD, THAT HE WILL INSTRUCT HIM? But we have the mind of Christ.”
This makes so much sense. As Jesus was going throughout His ministry many sought Him. However several didn’t. Most of the pharisees were in that camp. Therefore, they didn’t understand Him or His message.
Jesus said in Matthew 11:15, “He who has ears, let him hear.” He is hinting that there are truths that are easily missed. One must seek Him to get them. His comment in John 10:27 tells us more, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” His Word is His voice. It’s music to our ears.
I’ve got a friend who may be a believer, but he doesn’t seem to seek God. He gets frustrated at many passages in the bible. Instead of the Word of God giving him peace, he gets angry. So much so it can be uncomfortable to be around him. But he wants to be with us. We tend to walk gingerly around him. Today’s entry makes me want to share this with him. However, I’ve thought this before and I felt God stopping me.
I want to rejoice that I’m His child. I’ve got the Holy Spirit. Amazing. God has redeemed and adopted me. I came to Christ when I was 17. He was pursuing me. So much love. What an honor. He plucked me out of my loneliness and saved me. I didn’t know any christians. One tried to talk to me about coming forward at an altar call, but I wasn’t open. I had no clue what I had done. So, He continued to guide me through that time. He was always on my mind. I brought Him up in conversations often. Nearly nine months later God brought Gordon into my life. He was a seminary student. We met weekly for bible studies for years. I ended up at his church when I was about 24. My mom and brother also went. Gordon were good friends for about 13 years. What a blessing he was. God gave me Gordon as a father in the faith. So cool. God has been good to me.
God wants us to share His Good News with others. We are planting seeds in their hearts. God pursues them. Sometimes we get the privlege of bringing them to Christ. When that happens they begin their journey as a child of God. God opens their eyes to His word and it begins to make sense to them. They are born again of His Spirit. Wonderful.
God’s Word is food, a guide and a comfort to His children. What a blessing. Thank You, Lord, for Your goodness to us. You’ve saved us, given us hope. We are now Your children on the road to heaven. Where we will be with You and many loved ones forever.
