Judges 11:36
‘So she said to him, “My father, you have given your word to the LORD; do to me just as you have said, since the LORD has brought you vengeance on your enemies, the sons of Ammon.”’
The Lord will give us honor. For Jephthah it didn’t seem possible. The first set of enemies was his own family. He was a son of Gideon, but his mother was a prostitute. They kicked him out. Years later another nation came against them. He was a great warrior so they went to him for help. He reminded them of their actions. They responded by saying they would make him their ruler. God honored him.
He led Israel to defeat their enemies. He is like many the Lord uses. His father, Gideon, was the least, David was the least of his brothers and so on. We are also the least. God has adopted us. We are poor in spirit. We know without God we are nothing.
Psalm 23 says, “He prepareth a table for me in the presence of my enemies.” We don’t know when He will do that. We trust Him as He will do it in His time.
I went through a time that I thought for sure He would deliver. He didn’t. However, He brought me through it. He may still deliver. However, He has blessed me and I know He will do what He wills in His time. I feel like I know longer need that.
Romans 8:28 says, “I know that He causes all to work for good to those love God and who are the called according to His purpose”. He has blessed me so. He has given me favor. Not in that one situation. I may have stepped in and muddied it. I may deserve that. However, He is good and will cause it to work for His good. Thank You, Lord.
You do give us honor. It’s unconceivable, but You do. Help. us to honor You in all our ways.
