His Touch

Daniel 10:16
‘And behold, one who resembled a human was touching my lips. Then I opened my mouth and spoke and said to him who was standing before me, “My lord, due to the vision anguish has come upon me, and I have retained no strength.”‘
What an interesting life Daniel lived. I would guess he was in his twenties when first taken to Babylon. He was recruited for the kings service. They gave him food of their country which violated his faith. He gave a challenge to his tutor. Let me eat this much and if I’m not stronger, then we can talk. It worked. He was able to interpret dreams. His doing so gave him great favor with the king. The past two chapters he has received visions from God. This one left him speechless. The angel touches his mouth and he can speak.
God’s touch gives us speech. Jesus tells us that in Luke 12:11,12, “Now when they bring you before the synagogues and the officials and the authorities, do not worry about how or what you are to speak in your defense, or what you are to say; for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.” This gives comfort. I broaden the application. It would seem if God wants to use us, He will give us the Words. It may be to share Christ, or whatever.
While God can give us words, we are to understand our faith. I Peter 3:15 says, “but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, but with gentleness and respect.” The verse starts out with making Jesus Lord. It’s Thy kingdom come, not ours. That’s ok because we’ve spent enough time trying to satisfy ourselves (I Peter 4:3). It doesn’t work. It leaves us frustrated, enslaved with damaged relationships. A life submitted to Christ is a happy, full one.
Look what Jesus’ touch does in His life, the woman with the bleeding problem is healed, the blind man is gets his sight, the leper is cleansed, the demon possessed is set free and so on. If we are in Christ, then we have a testimony of His touch. I’ve been healed, set free, given hope, filled with joy and so on.
He wants to touch others. We are His messengers sharing His good news. Forgiveness of sin and an eternity in heaven. I wasn’t aware of it then, but the best part is being a child of God and being with Him forever. Psalm 16:11, “You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
Thank You, Lord, for Your touch. Such a blessing, so much healing. It’s just the beginning. So much more. Help us to bring others along.
