Daniel 6:21,22
‘Then Daniel spoke to the king, “O king, live forever! My God sent His angel and shut the lions’ mouths, and they have not harmed me, since I was found innocent before Him; and also toward you, O king, I have committed no crime.”’
This is another miracle where a believer’s life was spared by not obeying the king’s edict. The earlier one was the three guys who were protected when thrown into the fire. Both punishments were because they wouldn’t worship the kings.
God spared them in marvelous ways. This one was amazing. An angel shut the lions’ mouth. That doesn’t happen unless God is involved. The earlier one had them thrown into the fire, but it didn’t hurt them. An angel walked with them in the fire and protected them.
Here’s what the guys said in their dialogue with the king, “If the God whom we serve exists, then He is able to deliver us from the blazing fiery furnace and from your hand, O king. But even if He does not, let it be known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden statue you have set up.” A great response. They knew God could deliver them, if He chose. We could say the same thing with the issues we deal with. God may or may not do a miracle and deliver us. If He chooses not to then we are loosed from the bonds of this life.
We are to praise Him in these times. Here’s an example, “About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them”, (Acts 16:25). God would soon deliver them. They would have praised Him even if He didn’t.
These were both dire situations. The attention is on them and powerful people are exacting punishment. Overwhelming. It would be difficult to reign in the panic. Emotions wouldn’t be good. We have to trust Him there.
Both of these situations ended up to be testimonies to what God could do. God meant them to be encouraging. We can look to Him to bring us through. Whatever the outcome, God is in control and He will work it out.
Thank You, Lord, for Your deliverance. We don’t need to worry about the outcome. Help us to praise You in those times.
