He Felt Compassion

Matthew 9:36
‘Seeing the crowds, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and downcast, like sheep without a shepherd.
This is cool to get an insight to what Jesus is thinking and feeling. Jesus was human, so there were times He needed rest. To need that, but to see an unlimited line of people with needs could be frustrating. But not here.
This is an insight into the mind of God. Compassion and love. My church didn’t teach this growing up. When I came to Christ I struggled with what God was thinking and wanting of me. I thought He wanted endless service. I couldn’t give enough. When I would think, “What would Jesus do?”, it was always far more than what I was doing. I felt He was always displeased with me. I had a disapproving step father that was that way. I wrongly applied that to God.
God is like the prodigal’s father on the porch looking out to the road for the sons return. When he did come home, the father hugged him, invited friends and family and threw a party. That’s God.
Most would appreciate that. Would need that. Unfortunately, the devil, the world and our fleshly nature have a campaign to smear God and put out all sorts of wrong ideas about Him. It’s vicious and far from correct.
He not only has compassion on us He wants to give to us. Maybe a healing, certainly comfort, encouragement or guidance. When we come to Christ, we get the Holy Spirit, the Comforter. He’s always with us, comforting us. Amazing.
I Corinthians 2:9 says, ‘Rather, as it is written: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no heart has imagined, what God has prepared for those who love Him.”’ I can imagine some cool things for myself. Not even close. When I look back and reflect, I am amazed. I am far better than I used to be. However, I’m sure I’m still not even close to the good thoughts He has for me.
We need to share this. It’s part of the Good News. God really loves you. Go to Him, ask Him in. Don’t just pass it off. He wants a relationship with you. Revelation 3:20 says, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.” There it is, He loves us and wants to connect with us. What healing that would bring.
Lord, thank You for Your love. Help me to grasp it better. Help us to share that good news.
