The Good News

Mathew 9:35
“Jesus was going through all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every sickness.”
This was amazing. He was teaching, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing people of their sicknesses. The healing was the most dramatic. This must have been so cool. People may have struggled with maladies their entire lives and one day He heals them. Many may have been hopeless about their condition.
These healings represented God’s love. But they were also to validate Jesus and His message. John 1:17 says, “For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” God’s system for the Old Testament came through Moses. Jesus was bringing a new message. The Law was important. It was step one. It taught us the holiness of God and our sinfulness. We needed a system of sacrifices to bring us to God. However it was temporary. It was a shadow of the New.
God’s perfect and final message was to come through Jesus. It was a message of grace and truth. David spoke of God’s love and goodness. The New Testament would be amazing. Paul’s expounded on it. “For by grace you have been saved” and then “there is therefore no condemnation in Christ Jesus”. These didn’t come from the mind of man.
Look at the nature based religions. They are harsh and punishing. The worshippers are tied up with guilt and sacrifices to appease an angry god. No grace, no love. The people were amazed at Jesus’ message. Jesus met the woman at the well and brought good news.
That would be the message of the Kingdom. Good news! “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done.” Our king is good and loving. His subject don’t have to fear. Yes, we fear Him, which means we believe and obey Him. We aren’t afraid of Him.
He wants us to share our testimonies. We have experienced Him and His kingdom. Like Jesus spread the new of His kingdom, we are to. He’s given us His Spirit. What a privilege to share it. Most of this is through the love He gives us. We also share with our words. Some need His love and others need His help.
We have been blessed by Him. He has taken our selfish, damaged lives and healed us. He has put us back together. He has a will and a purpose for us. I Corinthians 2:9 says, ‘Rather, as it is written: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no heart has imagined, what God has prepared for those who love Him.”’ I wouldn’t have imagined the good things He has for me. I’m not sure what I thought. It certainly isn’t where I am. So blessed.
Lord, thank You for Jesus and His message. It has been a blessing. Help us to share this good news with others.
