New Roles

2 Chronicles 31:16
“without regard to their genealogical enrollment, to the males from thirty years old and upward—everyone who entered the house of the LORD for his daily obligations—for their work in their duties according to their divisions”.
The nation has come back to God. This is new. Hezekiah is reestablishing the priests and levites. I’m not real clear about the distinctions. It’s possible that one was connected to the sanctuary and the other ministered the word of God. These could have been the same individuals, just had a different title based on if they were at the temple or not. Whatever the case the religious duties were reestablished.
When we come to Christ, God uses us according to our gifting. Ephesians 4:11, 12 says, “And He gave some as apostles, some as prophets, some as evangelists, some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the building up of the body of Christ.” These are the visible members in the body of Christ.
All of us have been equipped in some way. I Corinthians 12:7 says, “But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.” My gift is listening. It’s one that best works in small numbers, preferably one to one.
When we come to Christ He uses us as He wills. We are an instrument in His hand. This is a blessing to all. It also gives us a sense of purpose. Our lives were once lived selfishly. We can recall the emptiness that ensued.
You have called us and set us apart. We are on God’s team. Prior to this we were about ourselves and worse influenced by the evil one. What a blessing to be with God and to be used by Him to bless others. Thank You, Lord.
