2 Samuel 12:24
“Then David comforted his wife Bathsheba, and he went to her and lay with her. So she gave birth to a son, and they’d named him Solomon.”
God made up for the loss of the child. Even though they committed a great sin, He was gracious and gave them another child. He is so good to us. Romans 5:10 says, "For if, being enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved in His life!" He gave His life while we were enemies.
God's love and what He gives to us is amazing. Malachi 3:10 says, '"Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house. Test Me in this,” says the LORD of Hosts. “See if I will not open the windows of heaven and pour out for you blessing without measure."' Then Jesus says in Luke 6:38, "Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure pressed down, shaken together, running over will they put into your lap. For with that measure you measure, it will be measured again to you." Listen to those words, poured out without measure, running over. We give and it comes back in a flood.
Psalm 23 says, "surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of our lives." That's what God promises to those obey Him. Contrast that with the proud. Psalm 73:19 says, "How they are destroyed in a moment! They are utterly swept away by sudden terrors." These are the ones who boast, "I did it my way."
We are used to human nature and think, "What's the catch?" The blessings He gives are quite one sided. He gets us and we get everything. There is no catch. It demonstrates the purity of love. He loves us, not for what we can do for Him, but He loves us. He sent His Son to die a horrible death to save us. That love doesn't stop when we join His team. It's just the beginning.
His great love is really what we all crave. All of us have it built within us to have a life partner that will love us. He gives that too. But we learn that our partners are human and limited. We really can only get that perfect love from Him.
One may ask, "How can I get my fill of love from an invisible God? Isn't He just an idea we believe?" No. First off, He's real and wants to be known and experienced. Here are some passages that speak to that. "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and dine with him, and he with Me", (Revelation 3:20). That speaks to the invitation He gives to all and the relationship He seeks. It's a personal one. Just like having dinner with a friend.
Another passage is Romans 8:16, "The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God." This passage speaks to God's presence being felt by us. We not only know He's there, but we feel His fulness. David said in Psalm 23, "My cup runneth over." We feel that.
Thank You God for Your great love for us. Help us to go deeper into You.
