Ephesians 4:11
“And He gave some as apostles, some as prophets, some as evangelists, some as pastors and teachers”.
God gave us all gifts and talents to serve Him and one another. The offices mentioned in this verse are the more powerful and visible ones. I am very thankful for those. God gifted some in this fashion.
He gifted others which in the background and much less visible. In other passages, the church is compared to a body. The less visible members would be the organs. No one sees these. However, they are vital to the body's healthy functioning.
The blessed part of this is that God builds our desire to match our gifts. He makes it so that we are doing what we want. I would say that this is real time. Meaning if we were told what we would do ten years down the road, then we may think, "That's not for me." That's fine. He will work our will so that when the time comes, it is a joy.
God does work in and through us that is incremental. He doesn't start out big. It's the principle of Luke 16:10, "Whoever is faithful with very little will also be faithful with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much." He trains us with little things. We gain success and He gives us another task that's a little bigger. We may end up doing big things or not. His will may be for us to be doing small things.
The process brings us through a range of emotions. At some point we are stressed out and need help. We cry out to Him and He rescues. It's a faith building process. We begin to trust in Him. The next time we don't get as anxious, as He came through.
Whatever the case He works His will through us. Thank You Lord.
