Wonderful Reflections

2 Samuel 7:18
“Then King David went in, sat before the LORD, and said, “Who am I, O Lord GOD, and what is my house, that You have brought me this far?”

Lord, thank You for the example of David. Such a neat guy. Thank You for the example of the close relationship that he modeled. You gave us this example for it's what You want to do for us. While I could be closer, my heart sings at reading this. I feel this. Romans 8:16 says, "The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God." That's what it feels like when reading this passage. I feel the Spirit bearing witness that this is what we've got.
This is amazing in itself, that the Spirit bears witness with my spirit. God is doing this. God wants to connect with us (me). Not just, "I will grant an audience with these small ones", but He wants to with eagerness. Jesus hinted at this with the prodigal son story. He mentioned the father saw the son coming from far off. That means he often looked at the road in anticipation that the son would come home. He greatly missed him and hoped to see the son. We need to dwell on that. Also in that story it says the father ran to meet him, embraced and kissed him (Luke 15:20). It's not dignified for the old father to run. Jesus is making the point how much God this relationship with us. The Father isn't concerned how He looks. He gladly makes Himself look foolish to demonstrate His love for His Son. Simply amazing.
The large majority isn't aware of this. They've heard "God loves You". They are also unaware that this relationship can be experienced now. Which is interesting because many ignore the gospel for they fear it will interfere with their present experience. While true they are unaware that the benefit will be theirs and theirs in a big way. He does ask us to deny ourselves, but it's that which harms us. True, at the time we aren't aware of that harm, we trust that He knows best.
On the flip side, we in Christ have great freedom. God gave us negative commandments for it's far more freeing. The idea is don't do these few things, but enjoy everything else. If He would have done this in reverse, there would have been ten things we are free to do and all else is off limits. This is like God. He values and gives freedom.
Why isn't there a huge marketing plan advertising how amazing God is? His plan is different. He speaks to us all in our hearts. If we listen, He speaks more. If we ignore Him, the voice gets more faint. He also speaks in a guarded fashion. Jesus did it in parables. This was so that those that wanted to hear would get it and those that weren't interested would think they were foolish fables. Completely unaware that God was trying to reach them.
To build on that point God has the conviction not to "cast pearls before swine" or to not "give what is holy to the dogs." God gave His best when He gave His Son to die for our sins. Those who aren't interested would trample on His generous gesture. So, it's cloaked from them. When they become interested, He will reveal it.
God works on us all to cause us to be interested in Him. He works the circumstances of life in His favor. He may give blessing or He may give illness. It depends what will get our attention. He wants us prodigals to come home.
God, You are so amazing. Thank You for Your orchestrations in our lives to bring us to You. Help us to yield to You and willingly come. Thank You for doing so. Like David, we sit quietly before You and give thanks for the great blessings You give.
