When Confusion is Present

2 Samuel 6:9
‘David was afraid of the Lord that day and said, “How can the ark of the Lord ever come to me?”’

We will encounter times when we are in a spot where we don't understand God. This happens because we are finite and can only comprehend so much. Pastor Rick Warren often says "Understanding God is like an ant trying to understand the internet."
We can get stumbled by these times. The devil can use these times to lead us from Christ. He created confusion with Eve and used that to disobey God. He'll do the same to us.
What do we do when we are confused? We certainly don't act contrary to the commandment. We pray and trust that He's got the situation. Sometimes He makes sense of things, sometimes not. One can get obsessed with a question, "Why would God allow this?" Hurt may cause this.
God has a good track record and can be trusted. That's what we rely on. He's good, He loves us and wants the best for us. That brings comfort. David didn't know why His friend died. The Ark of God frightened him. He posed the question, "How can the Ark of God ever come to me?" That will take a while for an answer. David knew God loves Him. He will rest in that.
I Corinthians 14:33 shares an important aspect of God, "For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints." We will be confused by circumstances. We are to trust that God is in control. What will be present is His peace in our hearts. Our minds might be confused, but His peace is there. Rest in that. Don't yield to the doubts.
Philippians 4:6,7 gives us guidance when we are troubled, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and pleading with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." We are to pray, bring the situation to the Lord and let it rest there. His peace guards our hearts. Doubts will seek to invade, yield to Him and rest in His peace.
Part of the process in Philippians is for us to give thanks. This demonstrates our faith. He's going to work it out. Romans 8:28 tells us He'll work it out for our good. Even though we may not feel like it, praise Him. If this is tough, ask for help. When a man asked Jesus for help, He spoke of faith. The man's response was Lord I believe, help my unbelief (Mark 9:24). In essence, Lord I want to trust You. Help me. Help to be able to praise You even in this.
Lord, thank You that You are in control of everything. Even when we are doubtful and concerned. Give us Your faith and peace and help us to praise You even in this.
