Ephesians 2:10
“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.”
What an amazing claim. It's like being recruited by the greatest life coach. We get their attention, their advice and with God He moves heaven and earth to adapt circumstances. On top of that we gain a loving heavenly Father.
Some may ask, What's the catch? We are to trust Him and the immediate results often doesn't look divine. We may be involved in something that we should abandon or an attitude may need adjustment. Hebrews 12:6 describes it like this, "For the Lord disciplines the one He loves, and He chastises every son He receives." It's the best for us, but usually isn't something we would choose.
We are His workmanship. It's a life designed by God. His signature is on us. The chorus of an old song says, "They will know we are christians by our love." That's His signature. All of our personalities and talents are unique, yet in the Lord's care we all become loving and reach an audience we are intended to reach.
Toyotas are the most reliable car out there. All respect that. While not all christians act like it, people expect love and forgiveness from them. Today's verse says we are prepared for good works. God reaches the world through us.
2 Corinthians 2:4, is a great example of how God uses us to help others, "who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God." Difficulties are part of this life. God comforts us in them. He does it directly through peace and joy and He uses others to help us. We'll be blessed with opportunities to comfort others in the same way.
The interesting thing is that this is scripture was written thousands of years ago. The passage says that God "prepared beforehand that we should walk in them." This is another example of His greatness and power. He saw the entirety of our lives back then. He's got it all in His hands.
