God Multiplies

I Samuel 30:20
‘So David had captured all the sheep and the cattle which the people drove ahead of the other livestock, and they said, “This is David’s plunder.”’

The last time we wrote on Samuel, we addressed how God restored that which was stolen. That in itself is amazing and something that God does for those who obey Him. To recap, David sought to fight against Israel. He was forbidden to do so and at his return he saw his family and belongings were taken. He goes back to inquiring of God and He allows him to recapture everything. Today's verse shows us that David got even more than he had lost. While that event was somewhat of a hand slap, David repented and God quickly restored and multiplied his things.
This circumstance reminds me of Malachi 3:10 in which God challenges his people to give and His response will be to open the windows of heaven and pour out blessings. Ephesians 3:20 says, "Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us". The phrase "blow your mind" seems to fit.
Many that don't know Christ pity us, they don't know this, but we pity them. Fortunately we are right. Unfortunately for them, they are blinded. They get glimpses of His blessings. I sense the respect my coworkers give. They have come to me when in a dire crisis. Unfortunately once the difficulty passes, so does their interest. But not all. Some have stayed with Him and are now His followers.
God's blessings also include a full heart. David says in Psalm 23, "my cup runneth over". That's His desire for all of us. What limits our joy is fear or selfishness. Proverbs 14:14a says, "The backslider in heart shall be full of his own ways". Our selfishness clogs the pipeline of God's flow. We think our ways will fill us. Just the opposite is true.
To get God's blessings we need to yield to His Lordship. We may have been full of our own ways, but the Lord seeks to weed those out. Once we're born again, He gives us a new heart (Ezekiel 36:26). We begin to want what He wants. Our old desires begin to feel empty. We are now on a wonderful path with our Lord and Savior.
Lord, Your blessings are amazing. Your love is so pure, endless and patient. Thank Your for the restoration You bring and the abundance You give.
