Galatians 5:18
“But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law.”
Many are afraid to enter a relationship with God, as it would remove many things that they want to do. Some may not have anything in mind, just the fact that they don't have complete control scares them. I shared some of those concerns.
Now that I'm on the other side of that decision, I see a completely different point. What a privilege to receive such guidance. God is way beyond fame and celebrity status. He's God. He is the most brilliant, loving, understanding, the creator and sustainer and so on. He is way beyond life coach. He really know what would be best for us.
David understood this and commented in Psalm 8:4, "What is man that You think of him, And a son of man that You are concerned about him?" As in, God you are so great, why would you be interested in us? We are not only insignificant, but sinful.
Paul takes that point and comments in Romans 5:8, "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." His love is so great, it can be difficult to understand. Verse seven is this same chapter says, "For one will hardly die for a righteous person; though perhaps for the good person someone would even dare to die." Dying for a good man has been done, but not for an enemy. God did the unthinkable, He sacrificed His Son for those that hated Him; those who wanted nothing to do with Him.
How attractive is that? Young people are drawn to causes. The leadership of some draws them. There is no greater cause than God's love. Especially because of the reward. Isaiah 55:11 says, "So will My word be which goes out of My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the purpose for which I sent it." While it might not accomplish what we had hoped, He sees and will reward us. On that level it's fail proof.
Bringing all this together, we have the opportunity to enter a close relationship with God and He sends His Holy Spirit to live within and to guide us. What a privilege. I've been on that path for over 40 years. Proverbs 4:18 gives a perfect description, "The path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, that shines brighter and brighter until midday". It was good at the start, but it's gotten better and better. So much better that I can't conceive how it could improve. I Corinthians 2:9 says, 'But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”'
His guidance is like an adventure. Like a private eye given an assignment. There are cool things He wants to teach us. In the process, He makes us more like Himself, loving and patient. People get encouraged and restored. We get the privilege to participate.
Thank You Lord for Your Spirit, Your love and Your guidance. Thank You for this great adventure. Help us to be more open to what You want to do.
