Galatians 2:20
“I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.”
Talk about a fresh start. We are made new in Christ and He lives through us. It’s not a clean slate for us to try again. It’s a new way in which He forgives, guides and empowers. Yes, we will stumble and make errors. We confess and accept the forgiveness He’s already given. We go again as if it never happened.
It’s an ascendant path. Ever up, closer and closer to our Lord. Upon our death, it’ll only be a slight step over to His Kingdom. The Spirit has been with us all the way. We will join the Father and the Son and all our family that’s gone before us.
“But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, That shines brighter and brighter until the full day”, (Proverbs 4:18). Each day we get closer and closer to the Lord. Our walk gets us nearer to Him and heaven. So, at our passing it’ll be just a small step from earth’s peak to our new home.
This life with the Lord is one of faith. This is not a blind compliance. Our spiritual senses feel Him and interact with Him constantly (Hebrews 5:14). So, what is faith? It is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1). This verse refers to substance and evidence. The Lord gives us enough to put confidence in. Creation is one huge convincing factor (Romans 1:20). Nothing comes into being without design and effort. The human body, the wonder of the animal kingdom, our amazing ecosystem represent overwhelming evidence of our creator.
Our life of faith is a wonderful interaction with our Lord. All day long His Spirit bears witness with our spirits (Romans 8:16). I think of the words of an old hymn, “what a fellowship, what a joy divine, leaning on the everlasting arms”. Living by faith is a blessing. We learn to trust His guidance and provision.
Lord, thank You for this new life. Thank You for Your Son’s sacrifice and for making a way. Thank You for this life of faith.
