Galatians 1:12
“For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but I received it through a revelation of Jesus Christ.”
Paul was a special man for a particular assignment. We have no knowledge of him during the ministry of Jesus. However, afterwards the Lord got his attention and used him mightily. This passage tells us that the Lord tutored him personally. He was unique to the New Testament.
We can say that Paul was tutored with a capital T. However, we are tutored by the Lord with a lower case t. Few of us will have a grand assignment like Paul or some of God’s mighty instruments of today. Yet, the Lord cares about us and works in our lives.
In Matthew 11:29 Jesus gives an amazing invitation, “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” He asks us individually to team up with Him. There are eight billion people on the planet. He is great enough to have the ability to do this. Some people are inclined to work more, while others would be overwhelmed by that pace. Jesus knows us all and goes at a pace we can handle.
In addition to Jesus, the Holy Spirit is also with us. John 14:26 says, “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.” It’s not like we are at a conference with thousands of others listening to a speaker. The Holy Spirit interacts with each of us.
How does this happen? Are we aware of Him connecting with us? Usually not. C.S. Lewis wrote an interesting comment, “Pain insists upon being attended to. God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pain: it is His megaphone to rouse a deaf world.” Life has plenty of difficulties. None are wasted, when we trust in Him.
Life’s circumstances are the tools that He uses. They get our attention; usually there is pressure and urgency for a resolution. As we look to Him, He gives us grace and patience. He also alters situations. It’s simply amazing how He can assist so many. The shock waves of circumstances affects many. Yet, He’s not out of control. He can work in all affected.
He loves us so and wants to be part of our lives. His heart breaks with our pain. He wants us all to call on Him, so He can use life’s difficulties and bless us.
Just as a craftsman has trademark quality and style, so also, He does amazing work in us. Ephesians 2:10 says that “we are His workmanship, created for good works in Christ”. He can take a broken life and transform it to a thing of beauty. He can take a person in pain who causes pain to be someone that bring hope and healing. That’s His trademark.
Lord, thank You for Your tutelage. Thank You for Your love and how You heal us and use us to bring good things to others. Help us to yield to You.
