The Good News of Easter

Matthew 28:5,6
‘The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified. “He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying.’
I’m writing this on Easter Sunday. Probably the most significant holiday. The great mistake of Adam and Eve has been erased. Access to God has now been reinstated. There was the system of sacrifices that was a temporary fix. Now that’s been replaced with the permanent.
How does Jesus’ rising from the dead change things? We now have access to God. Due to sin, there was a separation. We weren’t guilt free, thus we rightfully had shame. Therefore we didn’t have the warmth of His acceptance. After Easter and accepting His sacrifice, we’ve been reconciled with Him. Romans 8 says that His Spirit bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God. Our humanness still brings shame, but it’s not valid. We’ve been forgiven and accepted.
This acceptance brings huge spiritual and psychological healing. We need to retrain our minds to this new reality. The years of guilt and shame don’t easily leave. Romans 12:2 tells us that we need to renew our minds.
How do we renew our minds? We need to read the bible and hear it taught at church. We learn of our new station in Christ. We are forgiven forever. We will still fall and sin, but we confess, are cleansed and are still connected with the Lord. This is amazing news.
Easter Sunday brought us back to God. We are connected to His love and forgiveness. Thank You, Lord.
