Deut. 32:11, pt III, Our Grief

Deureonomy 32:11
“Like an eagle that stirs up its nest, That hovers over its young, He spread His wings and caught them, He carried them on His pinions.”

Today’s focus on this verse will be on our response to difficulties. Pushing a bird out of the nest must initially be terrifying for the fledgling. We also having difficult times. Regardless if the trials are small, medium or large, we are distressed at some level.
This distress is real. We become sad, anxious, fearful or angry. These are difficult emotions. Here are some scriptures about these:

-Psalm 56:8 “You have taken account of my wanderings; Put my tears in Your bottle. Are they not in Your book?”
-Psalm 39:12 “Hear my prayer, O LORD, and give ear to my cry; Do not be silent at my tears; For I am a stranger with You, A sojourner like all my fathers.”
-Psalm 116:3 “The cords of death encompassed me. And the terrors of Sheol came upon me.”
-Job 16:20 “My friends are my scoffers; My eye weeps to God. I found distress and sorrow.”
-Psalm 31:9 “Be gracious to me, O LORD, for I am in distress; My eye is wasted away from grief, my soul and my body also.”

We all feel these dark emotions. This last scripture shows David modeling what he does at these time, He looks Godward. The Lord knows our pain and wants to comfort us. David speaks of God’s comforting presence in Psalm 23.
Lord, thank You that You are with us in these difficult times.
