Deuteronomy 32:10
“He found him in a desert land, And in the howling waste of a wilderness; He encircled him, He cared for him, He guarded him as the pupil of His eye.”
The Lord took in and cared for Israel. He fed them, guided them, gave them direction through Moses, protected them and so on. Prior to this they were enslaved for four hundred years.
We also were (or could be) rescued and cared for by God. He’s different, but similar to our earthly care givers. The first thing He wants to care for is our inner anxieties. Romans 8:15,16 says, “For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.” When we receive Christ our spirit is reconciled to His. Sin isn’t dividing us any longer. We reach upward and cry out, “Abba, Father”. He satisfies that with the peace of His presence.
The therapy bills of many would be less necessary with this experience. The void that’s present by not being cared for properly by our early caregivers can be filled. There will be plenty of negative self talk that will need to be corrected. However, we now have a present care giver with the Lord. He warms us from within with His peace (Philippians 4:7).
He cares for us in His guidance. Just as a parent wouldn’t send a child into a hostile setting, so the Lord wants to guide and protect us. Jesus referenced this in The Lord’s Prayer “lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.” Part of being a Christian is to submit to His lordship. His guidance is included. I Corinthians 10:13 says that He won’t put us in circumstances that are too much for us. It may not feel that way at times. We need to keep close to Him in prayer.
Lord, thank You for the care You provide. Your ever-present Spirit which gives us peace and presence fills the hole in us all. The care of Your guidance is better than the best tutors.
