Sharing Our Highlights

I Thessalonians 2:10
“You are witnesses, and so is God, of how holy, righteous and blameless we were among you who believed.”

It’s not often we hear christians speak of their holiness and blamelessness. We’ve been taught that it’s boasting. It probably would be. Paul had his reasons. He was trying not to devalue the gospel. Some disbelieve due to the sloppy lives of christians. Paul wanted to remove that excuse. His confidence in his behavior and his speaking of it is unexpected and refreshing at some level.
Some churches teach it’s members to be so invisible that it’s unhealthy. While we aren’t to boast, God does honor us. Psalm 23 says, “You prepare a table for me in the presence of my enemies.” God not only makes us visible, but He exalts us at times. Paul did a little self promotion for the sake of the gospel.
Are we to speak of our deeds for The Lord? Normally in a limited fashion. Jesus addresses this in Matthew 6:5 “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. Truly I tell you, they already have their reward.” The Lord will use us throughout our day. We normally keep that to ourselves. However, we will come into circumstances where we will feel the Lord’s prompting to share. It usually is for encouragement or inspiration.
Lord, thanks for the blessing of being used by You. Give us wisdom as to when we are to share this with others.
