1 Thessalonians 1:5
“for our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction; just as you know what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake.”
When the apostles preached the gospel, often signs and wonders were present. That certainly categorizes as power. What also fits under power is the confidence that the message is true and the Holy Spirit will redeem people just as promised.
We should have that same confidence. Primarily because it worked with us. If we’ve accepted Christ, we can remember our time. We felt His forgiveness and His presence in our lives.
We also could see a difference in our circumstances. It’s as if things were arranged. Doors would open or close. We would feel His nudgings in particular circumstances.
We also feel Him working on particular areas. It may be sour attitudes or a poor self image. He begins to clean up our lives. We begin to learn to trust Him. He knows best.
If we are sharing Christ, the evidence of His power should be shared. The message isn’t just a cognitive exercise. It’s experiencing God.
When people inquire about Him, it’s usually based on some sort of need. We can usually speak to a similar experience in which The Lord has helped us. This is bringing the message in power.
This is hopeful. People aren’t just joining a club or agreeing to a set of principals. They are being introduced to God. Someone who loves them and wants to help them.
Lord, thanks that You are so active in our lives. Help us to share Your good news with power.
