1 Peter 3:12
“FOR THE EYES OF THE LORD ARE TOWARD THE RIGHTEOUS,
AND HIS EARS ATTEND TO THEIR PRAYER,
BUT THE FACE OF THE LORD IS AGAINST THOSE WHO DO EVIL.”
How does God view us? Are His eyes towards us or against us? Many faiths see this differently. I’ll address the christian view. In the church of my youth, it was skewed. The best they could do was “hope so”. This was not a biblical hope. Almost as if it was inappropriate to have a confident view.
There is good news. God wants us to be secure in how He views us.Today’s passage says that His eyes are “toward the righteous”. What does it mean to be righteous? It’s to be in a right relationship. How does that happen? When we bow our knees and accept Christ as lord and saviour, God makes us righteous. His sacrifice cleanses us from sin. We become His children and He looks upon us favorably.
The lordship role is one we deal with daily. He puts us in circumstances and we learn to respond in a godly way. We get the bible as our guide and He prompts our hearts. Revelation 3:21 says that He knocks at the door of our hearts. The home of our hearts have many rooms and doors. Through the course of our lives He makes His way through many halls and gently knocks on many doors.
We are sometimes so hurt or stubborn that we can’t hear His knock. Through circumstances and time our hearing becomes sharper as we submit to His lordship (Hebrews 5:11). We hear the faint knock. Healing and wholeness await as we let Him in.
Lord, thank You that You are for us. You are commited to healing and working with us. Thank You. You see us with eyes of kindness and hope. Not disapproval and impatience.
