Numbers 12:14,15 “But the LORD said to Moses, “If her father had but spit in her face, would she not bear her shame for seven days? Let her be shut up for seven days outside the camp, and afterward she may be received again.” So Miriam was shut up outside the camp for seven days, and the people did not move on until Miriam was received again.” People learn lessons when they feel consequences. The scripture teaches in many places that we reap what we so. Another derivative of that is Luke 12:3 “Accordingly, whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in the inner rooms will be proclaimed upon the housetops.” These are warnings. We may have some private sins or habits. If continued to be practiced, they will come out. God is merciful and we can ask Him to decrease or minimize the impact. I believe He can do this. It was moderated with Miriam. He did heal her. So, he was merciful. However, he wanted to lesson learned, don’t speak against Moses. She was put outside the camp for seven days. Everyone knew she had leprosy and probably knew that she spoke against God’s annointed. So, with us, He wants us to learn. Some times it will be uncomfortable. Lord, help us to stop our bad ways before we are embarrassed. Thank You that You are merciful. Even if we don’t understand it. You work it all out for our good.
