Follow His Bread Crumbs

Ephesians 5:6-8
6Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. 7Therefore do not be partakers with them; 8for you were formerly darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord; walk as children of Light”
What an interesting description, “you were formerly darkness”. This is why the things of God bored us at that time. We didn’t understand. This is why some mock christians. They can’t conceive of why christians do what they do.
Before we accepted Christ, we lived according to our nature. All of us were born seperated from God. His light was not in us. Our parents exposed us to church in hopes that at the age of accountability we would choose Him. Upon making that choice, He forgives us our sins and He lives within us. The veil of the temple seperating the holy place from the rest was torn in two (Matthew 27:52). People now have access to God.
Our conversion is like Narnia when Aslan rises again. A winterland is taken over by spring. Plants grow and take over at the rate that we allow. We get a new nature (Ezekial 36:26). As we read and hear God’s Word, our spirits grow like a plant. Some feel nothing at conversion, but as the weeks go by the evidence is there. Things that didn’t bother them, suddenly do. God begins to work in their lives. His fingerprints become obvious. God gives us these crumbs to follow. The more we pursue, the more he engages us. Thus begins a new live.
When we engage in ungodly behaviour, we are saddened. This doesn’t last forever. If we ignore our god inclinations, they will disappear. Our hearts become calloused and we no longer feel/hear Him. He won’t let us go easily. He will send circumstances to wake us up. These can also be ignored.
Lord, thank You that You have us light, Your life giving light. Help up to walk within Your light.
