The Benefits of Being His

Exodus 8:22, 23

There will be no flies in Goshen. I will put a division between my people and your people.
This is an interesting passage. We are all God’s children on one level. God’s loves and cares for everyone. However, He treats those that have responded to Him differently. When we come to Christ and accept His forgiveness and yield to His Lordship, we receive His nature. We become God’s children. This is different than the concept that we are all children of God. We choose to follow Him. Being His child provides many benefits: He fills us with His joy and more, He guides us (which implies that we follow-not always easy-but always good), He causes all to work for the good, incredible character development (sometimes difficult-we have to go thru the same difficulties anyways-it’s better to yield to His craftsmanship).
There is spiritual warfare. The devil and his minions seek to confuse and blind people about God and His truth. All this is invisible and unfelt. If we have submitted to God, then He protects us. “Greater is He who is in us, than He who is in the world” 1 John 4;4. Without Christ, it’s like walking across no man’s land.
One day, our lives on earth will be over. We may succumb to an illness or an accident. If we are His, we will wake up in Heaven. I picture this life as a walk. We can choose to follow Him. If so, it’s a path that goes ever upward. One day we reach a great height, so high we are in the mist. Our death will be like a short hop from this world to the next. He is with us. The point of the analogy is that as we ascend, while we are still on earth, the path and the stuff of our lives become more heavenly. The longer we walk with Him, it becomes even more so. Going to heaven shouldn’t be a huge difference. We’ve been walking with Him. He becomes a greater part of our lives each day.
God blesses His children in so many great ways. Thank You for them all.
