God’s Favor

Exodus 7:1

Then the LORD said to Moses, “See, I make you as God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron shall be your prophet.”
God gives us favor in the sight of others. This doesn’t mean everyone will like us. It’s a general attitude. Proverbs 3:3,4 says, “Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.”  As we follow Him, it’s a byproduct. Even though following God requires some unpopular actions, the favor He gives us is retained. He has His purposes. In today’s verse God was trying to accomplish something through Pharaoh. Proverbs 21:1 says, “The king’s heart is like channels of water in the hand of the LORD, He turns it wherever He wishes.” Pharaoh still had free will, but God still influences hearts. This was helpful to Moses. He was afraid of the mission. He would question God’s commands constantly. He would bring up that he was unskilled in speech. It had to be encouraging to Moses when Pharaoh gave him such respect. This is part of the growth process. He blesses Moses’ obedience. God does the same with us. As we follow Him, He blesses with favor. We have the respect of others. Lord, thank You for the favor You provide.
