Hebrews 11:27
By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured, as seeing Him who is unseen.
This is interesting, because Moses fled Egypt, for Pharaoh was trying to kill him. It appears he feared the wrath of the king. Let’s dig deeper.
This incident occured when Moses was an adult in his prime. He was spending time with the hebrews. He killed the egyptian guard for abusing one of his brethren. The next day, he tried to stop two hebrews from arguing. He clearly felt his position of influence was given to him to help his people. He was right. It just wouldn’t be for another forty years. God gives us dreams, ideas or burdens, which is His way of instilling His will within. It was God’s will for Moses to be a leader of the people. He was in a perfect position to do this. He was educated in the egyptian way and trained in the house of Pharaoh. The problem was Moses was trying to lead the people his way. Murdering the guard wasn’t how God wanted it done. Now Moses was a wanted man. He fled Egypt, not because he was afraid to die. He knew he belonged to God and would go to Him upon death. He left because he knew God still wanted him to lead his people. Dying wasn’t His plan. He knew his mistake didn’t disqualify him. It just changed the mission.
It says that he endured as seeing Him who is unseen. For him to be in tune with his higher agenda, was all dependant on God. If he didn’t believe in God, he would have seen it as a lost opportunity and called it quits. But he knew God could still use him. So, he left to stop Pharaoh from trying to finish God’s plan.
We trust God to do His will in our lives regardless of the circumstances. We may not see how, but our faith in His ability confirms to us that He will do it. Just as Moses endured as seeing Him who is unseen, our eyes of faith help us to trust Him. Moses’ wilderness experience taught him to patiently wait for God. He will also teach us patience through circumstances.
