Pilgrims of 2014

Hebrews 11:13-16
ll these died in faith, without receiving the promises, but having seen them and having welcomed them from a distance, and having confessed that they were strangers and exiles on the earth. For those who say such things make it clear that they are seeking a country of their own. And indeed if they had been thinking of that country from which they went out, they would have had opportunity to return. But as it is, they desire a better country, that is a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God; for He has prepared a city for them.
God loves us all, but He greatly rewards those that follow Him. Psalm 16:11 says, He gives us “fullness of joy.” However, atheism is on the rise. That seems the be the choice of the intellectuals. God has put so much in this world, that one can enjoy it without Him. Much of America follows biblical principles of work, kindness, etc. So, one can function very well without Him. That’s what’s happening. People are using all His stuff and living smartly and are enjoying themselves.  Unfortunately, they ignore the author of it all. God hasn’t given up on them. He continues to draw them.
However, we are on a separate journey. Verse 10 say, “they were looking for a city which has foundations whose builder and architect is God.” Just like some are true to name brands. If it be Nike, or Chevy. Christians are sticking with God’s brand. This world is great and we should enjoy it. However, we are to be in it governed by God and His principles. The new model is coming out. Our focus is to be there. It’s not the product, but the designer that we follow.
Lord, help us to have a light touch on things, so we value You above them. The pilgrims fled Europe for a new life. On accepting Christ, we fled the old life. In our minds and hearts, we’re in a different place. Help us to be true to You in our lives.
