Hebrews 10:25
Not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another: and all the more, as you see the day drawing near.
God wants us to spend time with other believers. In general, this is going to church, but it’s more than that. Being in a small group is more in line with the New Testament model. These are great in that you are with a group that we know and knows us. We can share our struggles and we’ll get encouragement, support and prayer in return. In my small group, we have raised our kids together; gone on vacations together, we hold one another up in prayer.
While it is possible to make it into the kingdom without going to church, small group, the fun part is lost. God does a lot of His work in us through others. A prophet came to David and pointed out his error. This kept David from keeping secrets that would have destroyed him. Proverbs 27:17 says, “Iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”
Lord, thank you for the godly people in our lives. Help us to be encouraging to one another.
