Genesis 32:1
Now as Jacob went on his way, the angels of God met him.
God sure knows how to give us what we need, when we need it. Jacob had just fled from Laban. He had the embarrassing confrontation. He is now cut off from his uncle. Decades earlier, his brother chased him out of his boyhood home. There isn’t a friendly place to go. The only place he knows of is to go home. Will Esau (his brother) still want to take his life? Jacob’s confidence is at a very deep low.
It’s at this time that God sends his angels. He’s between two lands; both of which are hostile. It’s almost as if the storm clouds lifted and the sun broke through. This is what he needed. It wouldn’t matter how Esau responded. God is with Jacob. This is like the footprints poem, in which the person is being carried by God.
I Corinthians 10:13 says He “will not allow us to be tempted beyond that which you are able”. He allows us to face difficulties. Unfortunately, many of which are of our own doing. He will allow us to learn our lessons. However, it’s a controlled environment. If we don’t resist, it will make us better.
Thank You, Lord, that You are with us and are helping us. Thank You, also for the special times when you send Your angels.
