Though He Slay, Still Will I Trust Him

Job 13:15

“Though He slay me, I will hope in Him. Nevertheless I will argue my ways before Him.”

I love this. These are the words from one who knew God. This resonates with me. I agree with Job. I’m not saying I have a death wish, just that I have complete trust in God. I have to say many things didn’t turn out as I would have thought. However, it wasn’t God who was to blame. I was leaning on my own understanding. These particular lessons were corrections.

Thank You, God, that You are so good to us. There is no question that all that You do in our lives is because of Your love. All can be included in this, that is if they accept Jesus’ sacrifice for sins. He becomes our Father and we trust Him for guidance. He can work all for good.

Our lives follow the Lord’s Prayer. Here is my recollection of it: Our Father, Who art in heaven. Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done. On earth as it is in heaven. Give us our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses. As we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, power and glory forever. Amen.

We see Him as Father. We want His kingdom to come. We submit our lives to Him to assist in bringing in His kingdom. We pray for daily bread and ask Him to fill our needs. We ask for forgiveness and in turn give that forgiveness to others. We ask Him for guidance and to be kept from temptation. There it is. That’s the life of a believer.

Job was an Old Testament believer. He squeezed all he could with the limited revelation he had of God. He knew God loved him and that he could trust Him completely. He spoke this great phrase, “Thou He slay me, still I will trust Him.”

There will be a day when we pass. He will be in control of that. It will be a wondrous entry into His kingdom. That kingdom has been my home when I received Christ back in 1978. The past 50 years He has led me on His path. That’s when I became His child and He, my Father. The relationship has only gotten closer and more warm over the years. My heart is His home. What a blessing. His home, heaven, will be my future dwelling. He instills His kingdom in my heart and He seeks to spread His kingdom through our lives.

Thank You, God for this great privilege.
