Love Regulates

I Corinthians 8:9

“But take care that this freedom of yours does not somehow become a stumbling block to the weak.”

I understand stumbling blocks. I can recall hearing the message of freedom, but not having it. I Corinthians 8:6 was more my reality, “However, not all people have this knowledge; but some, being accustomed to the idol until now, eat food as if it were sacrificed to an idol; and their conscience, being weak, is defiled.” I knew freedom was possible and some had it and could do things I couldn’t. I would attempt it, but would end up feeling guilty. It took years to grow in this understanding.

I don’t have any people in my life at present that have such weaknesses. But if I did I wouldn’t have any problem limiting my actions to keep them from stumbling. Altering one’s lifestyle like this is demonstrating God’s love.

It would be a good idea to pray about this. “Lord, is there anyone in my sphere that could be stumbled by my actions?” There might be and we aren’t aware of it. “Lord, give us wisdom and sensitivity.”
