Matthew 27:13,14
‘Then Pilate said to Him, “Do You not hear how many things they are testifying against You?” And still He did not answer him in regard to even a single charge, so the governor was greatly amazed.’
Jesus was walking in God’s will. He prayed the prayer for His release if it be His will. God could still answer that prayer. Jesus is watching it play out. God could rescue Him and redeem humanity another way. He isn’t going to step in and interfere. He is trusting God with it all. His method is to be quiet.
We need to have that kind of trust. We can’t worry about the charges against us. I have to admit that this makes me nervous. I worry what this does with my witness. As Peter says, “Don’t be accused as a crook or any sort of lawbreaker”. I feel I need to defend myself. I haven’t been perfect. Some of their complaints about me may be true.
Follow the Jesus way. Don’t worry about it all. I feel a peace fall on me as I think about it. I have been trying to influence things. I need to stop. Just walk the way He gives and rest. I have to admit that I can’t believe the way things are. So much noise.
Lord, I need Your help. I don’t feel equipped to live under such disapproval. It seems far from fair. Work this for the good. Help me not to make it worse. Give me Your peace amidst it all.
