Matthew 10:19,20
“But when they hand you over, do not worry about how or what you are to say; for what you are to say will be given you in that hour. For it is not you who are speaking, but it is the Spirit of your Father who is speaking in you.”
This is so cool. While I don’t see myself being handed over, there are plenty of times I’ve been nervous about what to say. I recall this promise and rest in it. What a miracle.
It’s His provision. We aren’t to worry about our needs. He promises to assist. Jesus said in Matthew 6:25, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?” We are worriers. Luke 10:41,42 further illustrates this, ‘But the Lord answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and distracted by many things; but only one thing is necessary; for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”’ That’s us, worried and distracted by many things.
He wants us to seek Him and rest. We will run into many things that distract us or make us worry. Give those to Him like todays passage. Matthew 11:28-30 tell us how we are to cope, “Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. For My yoke is comfortable, and My burden is light.” We are to go to Jesus. It just involves trust. He’s with us and wants to assist. Trust Him.
What’s His yoke? Loving God and others. We have opportunities all day long. We all have our agendas and “to do” lists. We bump into others doing the same thing. We allow them to go first, we show interest in them and seek to bless them. We aren’t to get worried and frustrated, but to love and trust. He’s got us.
Thank You, Lord, that Your there for us, encouraging us and helping us. You don’t want us to worry, but to trust You and love others. You and there to assist us all day. Thank You!
