The Greatest Show …..in Heaven. Pt II

My earlier post about Heaven referred to how fulfilling it will be. I wanted to focus more on our being reunited with God. At the beginning of creation, Adam and Eve had an incredible relationship with Him. He took walks with them. Then sin entered and there has been a huge separation. Jesus came and bridged the gap. We can now have a relationship with God again. We now know him through faith. Paul says this life is like looking through a glass darkly, but then will be face to face. (1 Cor 13:12).We know God now, but it’s like talking on a phone with a weak connection. When we’re in Heaven, it’ll be face to face.
Even though Adam had perfect fellowship with God, Adam had a partial emptiness, so God created Eve. God wants to be part of our lives, but He created us to interact with others, to work (till the garden), etc. Just as He created us with these needs, I feel we’ll have similar needs in Heaven. The scripture has referred to us ruling in Heaven (Revelation 20:6). What comes to minds is the Narnia movies, with their beauty and adventure. But I wrote about us doing things last time.
Just as walking with God was part of Adam and Eve’s day, so will spending time with God in Heaven. When we first arrive, we will be so grateful and impressed with him that we will be in awe. Life stops when we look at a sunset. So we will have to stop  and take in His greatness. It reminds me of the responses of Israel when they were brought back to Zion, “our mouths were filled with laughter” (Psalm 126:1,2). This won’t be like the kid who has to sit bored in church to wait till the end of the service, so he can get out of there to play. It will be the mix of the joy of old friends coming together along with the gratitude and respect we have for our heroes during a parade.
Paul says, “we know in part now, but then we will know fully.” We will be utterly knocked back by God’s greatness, goodness and on and on. It will be a sensory overload where we will be flooded with endless “thank you’s”. Another great verse says, “eye has not seen, nor has ear heard…the great things God has prepared for those that love Him”. (I Corinthians 2:9). Our human minds can’t comprehend Heaven and God, We are presently the bored kid in church. However, once there, the show begins.
