He Will Restore

I Samuel 30:19
“And nothing of theirs was missing, whether small or great, sons or daughters, plunder, or anything that they had taken for themselves; David brought it all back.”

This was an amazing turn of events. A few days prior they came back to their village to find their families taken captive along with their possessions stolen. The people were so distraught, they sought to stone David. But he encouraged Himself in God and prayed to retrieve all that was lost. Today's verse in the result.
All that was lost was restored. That's what God does. Joel 2:25 says, "I will repay you for the years the locust has eaten..." The Lord makes things right when we follow and trust Him. It might not be how we imagined, but our lives will be full. David said in Psalm 23, "My cup runneth over."
David was off track by seeking to attack Israel. When learning of his error he seeks the Lord and He guides him to the thieves. The Lord allows him to regain all that was taken. This was a quick turn around.
The Lord restores and rewards faithfulness. For David it appeared to happen in a few days. Even if it takes longer He will restore and reward us. We trust that he will work it all out for the good. We will encounter plenty that grieves us and make us sad. However, He puts that hope in us. It may be a small candle flame, but it won't be extinguished.
Isaiah 42:3a says, "A bruised reed He will not break, a smoldering wick He will not extinguish". There isn't much more vulnerable than these two. That's our God. The winds of life blow and threaten to snuff out the flame, but God cups His hands to protect it. Those looking on are amazed. God keeps us. In threatening times He can heal and restore.
Job 19:25 says, "I know my redeemer lives". Many of God's names in scripture speak to how He restores and redeems. It's the essence of His nature to restore the faithful. Proverbs 4:18 says, "The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, it shines brighter and brighter until midday." That's our story.
Lord, You are simply amazing what You do in our lives. You bless and heal us. You fill our cups. Thank You God.
