God’s Protection

I Samuel 19:20
“Then Saul sent messengers to take David, but when they saw the company of prophets prophesying, with Samuel standing and presiding over them, the Spirit of God came upon the messengers of Saul; and they also prophesied.”

Saul was getting worse. I believe he tried to kill David twice overtly and he tried to put him in situations in which he would get killed by the philistines. His wife allowed him to escape earlier. This time God protects him by taking control of the police.
This illustrates God's protection over His children. Proverbs 16:7 says, "When a person's ways please the Lord, even his enemies will be at peace with him." He does this in multiple ways, He can change their hearts by our actions or in this passage it's an obvious miracle.
This randomness makes life exciting. Even our difficulties are turned into blessings. When we accept Christ we become His children. Just as we care for our kids, so He cares for us. He helps us in many ways. It could be a blessing or possibly an area where we need growth. Romans 8:28 tells us that He works all things for good who called according to His purpose.
Our part is for us to make our ways pleasing to the Lord. We obey the scriptures. We are to love others, deny ourselves, not be impulsive and so on. This behavior can change the hearts of our enemies.
Sometimes this doesn't work. We continue with the godly behavior and trust that God will protect us. He will perform a miracle as in today's passage. Sometimes we witness it, other times we don't. He's always faithful.
A great byproduct of trusting the Lord is He gives us peace in our hearts. Philippians 4:6,7 says, "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving present your requests to God And the peace of God which passes all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." What a blessing. Today's passage has God controlling the police and this verse has Him controlling our anxiety.
Our enemies may be powerful. Saul was the most powerful in the land. It didn't matter, God's bigger than them all. We needn't worry, but trust in Him.
Thank You Lord for protecting us. In the myriad of ways You do so. Thank You.
