The Fulness of Time, pt II

Galatians 4:4 “But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law”.

The Lord knew what He was doing when He sent Jesus. He maximized the time for it's efficiency. This was done four thousand years after the fall. He could have immediately done it. However, that would have cheapened the sacrifice.
The expense was incalculable. This verse says it, "God sent forth His son". Our family is the dearest to us. He sent the one He loved most. If Jesus was sent immediately, Adam and Eve wouldn't have appreciated it as much.
The consequence of the fall was death. It wasn't physical death, as they didn't die at the time. It was spiritual death. This is a separation. They were separated from God. They were ushered out of the Garden of Eden. The Old Testament jews understood this quite well, as their temple had a veil separating them from God.
We all experience this separation. We naturally feel guilt when we contemplate the Lord. We know that we are sinful people. We have done wrong. We also have selfish thoughts and ambitions. We understand that the almighty even knows our thoughts. When we pray, our wrongs come to mind. We feel that separation.
We also experience the union when we come to Christ. Revelation 3:20 says, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me." The Lord joins us on the inside. Our sin has been cleansed, the division is gone.
This is such a cause for celebration. We've experienced difficulties and the uncomfortable separation. As we are forgiven and reunited with God, this separation is gone. Joy and peace floods our hearts. The great judge no longer has a problem with us. He transitions to Father.
Adam and Eve traded fellowship with God away. They got spiritual death and the knowledge of good and evil in return. We weren't designed to retain that knowledge. The first experience was the shame of their nakedness. They were embarrassed and hid from God.
We all feel the corrosive effect of this knowledge. It can be traced to the pain we feel. We do our best to minimize this to make it tolerable. Some turn to substances to numb the pain. We also seek to tolerate it by dozens of ways, some of which aren't good.
Thus the Lord sought to rescue us by sending His Son. He did so at the proper time. History wasn't split in two, four thousand years before and two thousand after. Forgiveness is applied to those in the past and those in the future make their decision to choose it.
Lord, thank You for sending Your Son. An amazing demonstration of love.
