Galatians 1:15
“But when God, who set me apart from my mother’s womb and called me by His grace, was pleased”.
What an amazing thing to be chosen by the Lord while even in the womb. What’s even better is that it is true of all of His children. His foreknowledge was capable of knowing us and calling us long before today.
One could say that He was eagerly looking forward to our birth. This is normally be true of family. Yet, God is so great that He has enough love and interest for each of the thousands of babies born daily. I would go even further and say that He looks forward to each stage of our development. Zephaniah 3:17 says, “The LORD your God is among you; He is mighty to save. He will rejoice over you with gladness; He will quiet you with His love; He will rejoice over you with singing.”
This is amazing. It puts the power in the simple phrase, “God loves you.” We really are special. This gets lost in the coldness of our world. That saying let’s us feel valued.
I think each of us can attest to this. We all feel important. Not so much in our contribution to society, but in our worth. Yet, as we get sad when we feel we are one of billions. This perspective makes us feel insignificant. Yet, we have a God who is so great and whose love is without bounds. He can focus in on each of us and hear our hurts as well as our dreams.
His foreknowledge and this great love has got to be shared. There is a hurting world full of people shrinking in sadness. God’s love could shock them out of their hopelessness. Like a shivering one ushered to a seat in front of a roaring fire, so would God’s love would unclench the grip of hate or sorrow. It would penetrate and touch the deepest wound. There may be shame that hides a secret. God knows and gives His great love in spite of that.
How can we tap into His love? Matthew 11:28-30 has Jesus giving the invitation, ‘Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. “For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”’ Accept that invitation. Go to church and read the Bible, so you can learn from Him.
Lord, thank You that You knew us from the beginning of creation. Thank You that You are excited about meeting us. Help us to yield and look to You. Help us to walk in Your love.
