Deut 32:11, pt V, He Carries Us,

Deureonomy 32:11
“Like an eagle that stirs up its nest, That hovers over its young, He spread His wings and caught them, He carried them on His pinions.”

Several sessions have been spent on this verse. It’s a great one that seems to entail much of the christian experience. Today I want to focus on the last part, “He carried them on His pinions.”
The analogy is a mother bird teaching her young to fly. The little one is spinning through the air as it flaps it’s wings. While flight is the goal, often times a rescue is required. This applies to us in that the Lord uses this life to teach us things, heal relationships and draw us close to Him. At times things seem to go poorly. Not according to God’s perspective, but ours. At these times, He carries us.
I get the picture of a wounded warrior that is carried back to safety on a stretcher. That’s an intense seen. In earlier posts on this verse I addressed the large trials that we all encounter. These aren’t common. Maybe once every few years. This seen would apply to that.
The Lord carries us in less severe times. We have smaller hurts that He helps us with. The Holy Spirit is called “the Comforter” (John 14:16). Part of His ministry is just that, to bring us comfort.
The Lord wants us to rest in Him. Matthew 11:29 says, “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS.” As we are in the Bible, involved in fellowship and prayer, it’s as if we are lounging in Him.
At times when we go to Him in prayer, we are prostrate before Him. This reliance is pleasing to Him. He wants to carry us.
Lord, thank You that You carry us, we can lounge in You and that we can try ourselves upon You.
