Matthew 7:6
“Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before pigs, or they will trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.”
We need to be discreet as we share the gospel. While it’s for everyone, some aren’t ready. I can recall a conversation two were having about God. The teller mentioned that he saw no conviction of sin in the other. The listener saw no need. In her eyes she didn’t need saving. So, further talk was unnecessary in her eyes.
This was an important conversation for me to witness. While it didn’t sink in at the time, it eventually did. Not everyone is ready. We can pray for them that they get there. Sharing the message before then isn’t helpful.
Jesus calls the gospel holy and He compares it to pearls. That’s true. Jesus, God, came down and lived a perfect life and died for our sins. Thus allowing forgiveness and heaven to open to us. Only He could have done it. He gave His life for us. He paid the penalty for all who would be saved. Somehow those hours of suffering equalled our eternal punishment condensed. It must have been horrible. It was a sacred and loving act worthy of respect.
It’s an awesome thing to share the gospel with others. I got to do so the other day. I’m praying that the seeds sowed will bear fruit.
We aren’t to share it with those who aren’t ready or those who are disrespectful. We are to honor what Jesus has done and allow it to be treated properly. Don’t throw what is holy to the dogs.
Jesus will be praised and thanked for all eternity for what He’s done. It’s greatness will continue to unfold. It will be amazing. Thank You, Lord.
