2 Chronicles 32:22
“So the LORD saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria and from the hand of all others, and guided them on every side.”
This was a frightful time. The enemy was a few miles away. Their envoys were at the gate shouting threats. Telling of the things that would be done to them. The enemy had a track record of nations destroyed. Hezekiah and the prophet went before God and asked for help. He saved them.
Verse 21 describes how God did it, “And the LORD sent an angel who destroyed every warrior, commander, and officer in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned in shame to his own land. And when he had entered the temple of his god, some of his own sons killed him there with the sword.” Wow. That’s deliverance.
God will deliver us as well. It would doubtful be as dramatic, but He will deliver. I’m finishing a two month long disagreement with one of my teams at work. He got me through it. In the end my coworkers respect me. He worked it out.
There were big lessons learned. One was not to be so insistent on my way or my rights. I wasn’t wrong, but I shouldn’t have let it upset me. The other lesson was on forgiveness. That was huge. I had to rely on the Lord for that. I had to forgive by faith. I also learned the lesson of “Lord I forgive, help my unforgiveness”. I altered that.
Sometimes our foolishness creates our problems. God can still work it our for good, but it’s our sin or selfishness that’s creating our issues. I Peter 4:14 says, “Make sure that none of you suffers as a murderer, or thief, or evildoer, or a troublesome meddler”. We are human and will still sin. The idea is that it happens less so.
Lord, thank You for Your deliverance. Thank You for the growth that occurs through these battles. You don’t waste those times.
